Also, you will notice that his eyes are shut in MOST of these pictures. Jake has now figured out WHEN the flash will go off, and ALWAYS closes his eyes. I finally got one with his eyes opened a the end of the "photo shoot", but it cracks me up, because for the past 4-5 days, he is ALWAYS closing his eyes for the camera.....instead of his usual posing ;-) Maybe he doesn't want to be a model after all?!

Who would have thought?
I was about to throw away the pampers box yesterday afternoon as Jake started to crawl towards it. He was enjoying just crawling/scooting around the box and laughing at the baby, and reaching for the sides of the box. SO, I had a brilliant idea (yes, brilliant)! I put him INSIDE the box!!! He fit perfectly! This presents many FUN opportunities, b/c first I gave him a little ride in this box by pulling on the sides, which he LOVED! After my back was tired from that, though.....he just enjoyed tearing up the box and feeling it - and making his own fun. I decided that really for Christmas - all Jake probably needs is different patterned wrapping paper wrapped in different shaped boxes, and he will be ALL set :-)

I love DC
It's no secret that I'm a huge Redskins fan - always have been. Here is what I especially LOVE about DC: I love how Redskins fans.....especially in the DC area LOVE the Redskins. I mean, the Redskins are 4-1 and everyone in this city is going crazy!! I'm okay with that. Sure, it's a little premature - and it is a LONG season with plenty of tough games left to play, BUT - I just LOVE the excitement and enthusiasm for this football team! Yesterday morning, I left early to go to my Dad's office to do a little work, and I stopped by Starbucks on the way. When they handed me my drink - this is what was written on it.....NO LIE. How cool is that?! So, who knows what will happen with the remaining of the season, but right now......I'm PUMPED, too - and going to continue to be excited and have my expectations HIGH with the rest of DC. :-)

And just for kicks - my Mom found this picture the other day in the basement.

New Toy
When Jake IS sitting still (which isn't often these days), he likes to play with his fun, new toy! I am so PROUD of myself for finding this toy, b/c it has the 3 major sports that Chris and I like: football, basketball, AND baseball. It is a true 3 in 1 toy :-) Jake likes to spin the football - and he loves holding the bat (he didn't let go of it the whole first day he got this toy)! Although, he likes to swing the baseball with his hand - instead of the bat. He can't quite "shoot" the basketball, but he can DUNK - and he loves that the toy CHEERS for him when he dunks the ball :-) I'm not sure who had more fun playing with this toy this past week - Jake or me.....but we sure did have lots of fun together!
On a side note - just because this is my blog, I have to say that this household is especially excited that the Redskins WON again today. However, I dressed Jake in his Eagles onesie and Redskins pants today for church (yep - I did just that), so.....I was keeping it fair and balanced ;-)

And in case you were sleeping...
VANDERBILT WON TODAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They are 5-0.....and were #19 going into today's game against #13 Auburn. Can't wait to see where they rank on Monday morning....
Here is Jake wearing his Vandy shirt that his cousin Andrew (who is a senior at Vandy) gave him - and getting pumped up for the game with Papa Dee (who went to Vanderbilt and is beside himself that they are having such a great season)!! Now, if only the Redskins can pull off a BIG win tomorrow against the Eagles. Stay tuned.
College Reunion
Can you believe that this year is my 5 year college reunion?! Today, my roommates (and we were roommates for ALL 4 years) and I got together with our spouses (well, all of the spouses but mine - go figure) and had a little college reunion. We were going to go to JMU for a football game (Go Dukes), but it was parent's weekend, and when we tried to get tickets a couple of months ago, they were already sold out. SO, we decided to meet at Libby and Greg's house in Northern VA and have a barbeque instead. In looking back over the past 5 years, our lives have changed in many GOOD ways. Taniya and Shawn brought their niece Kiera, so Jake had a friend to play with - and of course there was Bailey (the dog) who enjoyed having some friends to play with, too - and Jake and Kiera were pretty taken by Bailey! It was a great day being able to all get together and catch up! I hope we can keep this tradition going.....at least every 5 years (if not more often than that)!!
