BIG, big boy

Enjoying a Chick-fil-A lunch .....

After a little shape up before bath time, here is the "new and improved" BIG boy .... with his new Thomas pjs (and new train) :-)

Discovering his Hands...

Cole is staring to realize that he actually has hands - and HE has the control over grabbing things and reaching for things .... and especially picking up his pacifier, if he really chooses to do so :-) I love all of these little stages - just seeing his mind at work is amazing....

Before and After...

Sooooo, I discovered today that Chris isn't wild about Jake's long hair (which I happen to LOVE). I decided that I would be okay with Chris cutting it. Here is Jake earlier in the day with his wonderful long hair :-) ......
THEN - cutting it later tonight (Jake was getting a little tired, but there was LOTS of hair to cut)!
What?!?!?!
:-(
It's a work in progress ...... we are going to shape it up some tomorrow night, but this was pretty good for tonight :-) I miss his long hair, but I'm going to think he's cute regardless....

Easter Bunny!

So, on Friday.....we picked up Libby from the airport in Savannah (yay) - and then ventured over to the Mall to see the Easter Bunny :-) As you can see, Cole was the only one willing to be with this friendly, HUGE bunny (of course, he also seems somewhat hidden, too)!! Jake was very excited talking about GOING to see the Easter Bunny....and even when we first saw him - from a distance, Jake was all excited. THEN, the Easter Bunny waved at Jake - and Jake pushed me in front of him like he was being shy. When I started walking him over to the Easter Bunny - well, he wasn't too thrilled - and started to cry. I definitely wasn't going to force it, so I made sure he knew he did not have to go see the Easter Bunny. I was secretly hoping that once the Easter Bunny was holding Cole, that Jake would be okay with going over there, too, but Jake (FROM AFAR) just waved and smiled - and basically was saying, "every man for themselves" :-) I tried a couple more times to get him to go over there, but there was no way it was happening. So, for this year - it's just Cole and the Easter Bunny. I figure by the time Jake is 8 and Cole is 6, they MAY both actually be in a picture with the Easter Bunny together - haha :-)

Conversation with Cole

(please excuse my annoying "baby talk" :-)

A few more Names...

I'm working on getting all the grandparent/aunt/uncle names on camera .... Here are 3 more (you'll have to watch and see which 3) ..... unfortunately, the battery went out on my camera during this video - or I probably would've been able to get him to say the remaining 4, b/c Jake definitely has to be in the mood - so, I promise you 4 that I will get those on video soon :-) Stay tuned...

Yes he is....

Rainy Day Sunday....

It was a rainy, dreary day on Sunday ..... good day for an afternoon nap (which I took), and a little movie (which Jake only watches like 20 minutes, so I had to snap this picture quick) :-)

Jake thought it was pretty cool that Cole was sitting on his Thomas pillow ..... and I'm not really sure Cole knew what to think :-)

Charcoal Grill....

We FINALLY used our charcoal grill tonight - and grilled some YUMMY hamburgers. I guess I shouldn't say "we", b/c it was ALL Chris. I only provided the hamburger meat - he did all the work .... well, as you can see - Jake helped him, too :-)

This is the Day which the Lord Has Made....

and a good one, it was! Chris was home when Jake got up from his nap, so you could hear him jumping up and down in his crib going "Daddy Daddy Daddy". Of course we immediately went outside to enjoy the nice weather - played a little bball, went for a few walks, took a couple of wagon rides, a little baseball, put out some fires ..... all sorts of excitement!

Random Shots from the Week....

Jacket weather almost OVER...

The weather has been BEAUTIFUL down here lately - but was a little breezy yesterday morning when we went outside early, so - I had to bust out this oh so cute jacket before jacket weather is completely over (which today - it was about 78, so it definitely wasn't needed today)! How cute is this little jacket, though - with the ears and all?!?!

Say it....Who's the best Mom?

Jake was saying that yesterday when we drove through the Chick-fil-A drive-thru and got some ice-cream on our way to the playground :-) He probably also had a brain freeze, b/c he ate the ice-cream like it was going to be gone if he didn't finish it in 30 seconds (and for the record, I took these pictures in the parking lot before driving off ..... just saving myself from grandparent questioning) :-) WHEN the ice-cream was all gone, Jake wanted more - and kept saying "please" "please" "please" in his sweet, little voice - that word is going to come back to haunt me!!

Big Brother Little Brother

Jake Jake Jake

Cole doesn't even cry that much, but I think Chris taught this to Jake.....

No more Lolo :-(

For a while now, one of Jake's favorite trains has been Salty (the official name of the train), which he named Lolo. We aren't really sure why and where he got Lolo, but Lolo was the name. So, every book we read and every time we referred to that certain train, we also called him Lolo. Apparently, though - Lolo is no longer a cool name - and Jake NOW CALLS HIM SALTY. I guess he figured it out from the Thomas movies, but.....gone are the days of Lolo. Jake even corrected me when I referred to the train as Lolo today....

DEMOLITION Boy...

Another fun way of knocking down blocks....

Wearing Green .....

Here is a cute picture of Mimi and Cole on her way out the door. The other few are of the boys in their green yesterday (Cole, who doesn't spit up often, went through a couple of green outfits) :-) Since Chris and I both have some Irish flowing through our blood, we figure our kids are like full-fledged Irish - haha :-) Chris was on duty last night, though - and after making green jello and being all festive last year (and Jake throwing up all night), I decided to hold off on the festivities this year ;-)

"Dapa Dee and Mimi"

Jake has started saying more and more words. He has been taking his sweet time saying things (which makes sense, because Jake is on "Jake's agenda" - always), but even in the past week or two - he has been putting more and more words together. I got him on video saying "Dapa Dee and Mimi" yesterday - and he has also said "Poppy and Gram", so I am working on getting that on video, too. Stay tuned -

Wagon Ride....

Jake enjoying a bumpy and fun wagon ride....that he never wanted to end!! (and when Papa Dee is driving the wagon, you better hold on, which makes it all the more exciting)....

Papa Dee was here...

Papa Dee came to pick up Mimi, who spent the past week with us. In true Jake fashion, he latched on to "dapa dee" the second he pulled in the driveway ..... and didn't leave his side for the 20 hours he was here (minus when he had to go to bed) :-)
He even let my Dad work the ENTIRE Thomas puzzle (which he never lets me do)!!
Papa Dee stole a few moments with Cole, too :-)
There is NO privacy when Jake is around ..... here is Jake knocking on the bathroom door .... :-)
On their way out :-(
