Watchin' You

I've never been reminded more than I have the past couple of weeks the important job of parenting. They watch EVERYTHING you do and hear EVERYTHING you say at Jake's age (I guess we should enjoy it while we can...haha). I've noticed it especially with Jake these days .... how he copies all that Chris does. Today was no exception (they weren't playing "simon says" in the above pictures....i just happened to get pictures of jake doing exactly what Chris was doing everytime he moved). He was definitely Chris' shadow and was so glad to have his Daddy home (first day off in 2 weeks). So, as I was watching Jake WATCH Chris, I was reminded of a great country song (you know how I LOVE MY COUNTRY MUSIC)! I am humbled by the responsibility that comes with being a parent - and am grateful all at the same time. Here are those lyrics I am talking about:
Watchin' You (by Rodney Atkins)
Drivin’ through town just my boy and me
With a Happy Meal in his booster seat
Knowin’ that he couldn’t have the toy ‘til his nuggets were gone.
A green traffic light turned straight to red
I hit my brakes and mumbled under my breath.
His fries went a flyin’, and his orange drink covered his lap
Well, then my four year old said a four letter word
It started with “S” and I was concerned
So I said, “Son, now where’d you learn to talk like that?”

Chorus:
He said, "I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that cool?
I’m your buckaroo, I wanna be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
We got cowboy boots and camo pants
Yeah, we’re just alike, hey, ain’t we dad?
I want to do everything you do.
So I’ve been watching you."

We got back home and I went to the barn
I bowed my head and I prayed real hard
Said, “Lord, please help me help my stupid self.”
Just this side of bedtime later that night
Turnin’ on my son’s Scooby-Doo nightlight.
He crawled out of bed and he got down on his knees.
He closed his little eyes, folded his little hands
Spoke to God like he was talkin’ to a friend.
And I said, “Son, now where’d you learn to pray like that?”

Chorus:
He said, "I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that cool?
I’m your buckaroo, I want to be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
We like fixin’ things and holding momma’s hand
Yeah, we’re just alike, hey, ain’t we dad?
I want to do everything you do; so I’ve been watching you"

With tears in my eyes I wrapped him in a hug.
Said, “My little bear is growin’ up.”
And he said, “But when I’m big I’ll still know what to do.”

"‘Cause I’ve been watching you, dad ain’t that cool?
I’m your buckaroo, I want to be like you.
And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are.
By then I’ll be strong as superman
We’ll be just alike, hey, won’t we dad
When I can do everything you do.
‘cause I’ve been watchin’ you."

Cute Story ....

No picture for this post, BUT tonight while praying before bed....Jake has been doing the praying at dinner and before he goes to bed the past few nights. Of course, Chris and I can't really make out what he is praying for (lots of jibberish), but before going to bed, I always thank Jesus for Mommy and Daddy and Jake and Cole. Well, tonight.....Jake prayed - and again, lots of jibberish .... BUT I could make out "percy, Lolo, and Thomas" :-) I'm pretty sure he was thanking Jesus for them!! Gotta love it.

Growing More Each Day...

He really is getting bigger and bigger each day ...

Our House (aka....THE TOY STORE)

Like Father Like Son .....

If you look really closely, these are some CUTE pictures. Earlier tonight when Chris got home, Jake was already sitting on the couch .... and Chris sat in the recliner and put his hands behind his head. Next thing you know, JAKE IS DOING THE SAME THING!!!!!! It was so cute! He was totally copying his Dad. Then, just a little bit ago, Cole was copying his Dad on the whole sleeping thing :-)

Some of Jake and Cole

So, does Cole look like Jake??? Regardless, he is one cute kid!
This is Jake ready for us to LEAVE and meet some friends at Chick-fil-A .....

Nothing Quite Like It ....

There is nothing quite like your baby smiling back at you ....

Another FIRST for Jake ....

Jake's FIRST tricycle!!!!! We used the birthday money that Jake got and bought a tricycle for him! It came last night - and thankfully, it is 67 degrees today, so it has been the PERFECT day to ride it :-) It will take a little practice .... mainly because instead of pedaling, he wants to just push it with his feet (and of course being the stubborn child that he is, didn't want me showing him how it is SUPPOSED to be done. Who does that sounds like?! Hmmm.... maybe me?!) It was still FUN watching him enjoy it - however he chose to ride it at the moment :-)

Loving the Outdoors

Jake was trying to chase after this squirrel...
Cole enjoying the sun and fresh air...
Running around!
Sidewalk chalk...
We did it ALL!!

SUNSHINE!!

YAY for sunshine :-) It was especially nice that it decided to come out this weekend, b/c Chris worked both days (and was on duty yesterday), so it was great to be able to get outside with the boys. Cole enjoyed the bjorn (which is just the best piece of baby gear - ever)!!
The 3 of us went for a walk down the street ..... Jake loves the "man holes" (or whatever they are called).
For those of you who have ever been around Jake know exactly what he is saying, "WHAT'S THAT?!?!" I told him it was a rock .... and he threw it (typical boy)!
Yes, this is Jake who was running down the street and then - ON PURPOSE - FELL on the pavement in front of the "man hole" - PURPOSELY! Why?!
Playing a little baseball ....

Jake and Cole

Jake was trying REALLY HARD to make Cole laugh. I'm not sure it worked, but Jake definitely gets an "A" for effort...

A Few Weekend Pictures ...

Jake ready for us to go to some friends' house for dinner ...
Such a BIG boy ....
Cole still working on his tummy time ....
he isn't a huge fan :-) He would MUCH rather me hold him (can't say i blame him - I am way cooler than his play mat) ....

Perfecting the BURP

Before you start judging me as a horrible parent, hear me out. Ever since Cole was born, I obviously burp him in between his bottle and afterwards. Well, sometimes, I have to "encourage" him to burp, so I would "fake burp" myself and tell Cole it's easy .... and to just do that :-) WELL, it never ceases to amaze me the things that Jake picks up on, b/c about 2 weeks ago, I put Cole on my shoulder to burp him, and Jake started making burping noises. It really cracked me up, b/c I realized he had been watching me doing that - and so he wanted to help. SO NOW.....Jake "helps encourage" Cole to burp during and after his bottles. I just HAD to get it on video the other day. I never know what is in store for me each day when I wake up .... BUT I do know it's exciting :-)

A few Videos...

Lots of FUN was had today ....

A little more TODDLE TOWN

Tumbling Around (getting out some of the energy is good for Jake and Mommy)... :-)

Throwing the balls (yes, I wet-wiped every one of them ... haha)!! Nah, but for those of you who know me well....know I wanted to :-)
Crawling through the train...
HAPPY BOY...

TODDLE TOWN

The weather has been so cold, so we haven't been able to get outside to play ... BUT today we ventured out to this place called Toddle Town in downtown Beaufort. It was fun to watch Jake run all around and play. This is Jake going down the "slide." He was literally begging me to let Cole go down with him ..... pulling on Cole's leg and everything. "Mean Mom" said it was a little too early for that. :-)
Playing with Elise.

Sitting on the Train!
KING OF THE WORLD ...

Lucky ME!

I'm lucky, BLESSED would be a much better word, for so many reasons, but at this particular second....it is because this sweet little boy just fell asleep while I was holding him....and he was holding on to my sweartshirt. Awwww, life is good!
