3-2-1

WOW!! It's amazing what good internet can do. The pictures I have been uploading....they have been taking on average of 30 minutes (no lie). This video....2 minutes (if that)!! SO COOL. No time to post more now...just trying it out, but here is a little preview of Jake in action....

Some Random Pictures...

It has been over a week since I have blogged, so there are plenty of Jake pictures to share! We have people coming to fix our internet on Tuesday (finally), so it will be nice to have a fast, working system again! *Note to self: next time we move - make sure the house we are thinking of moving into gets good internet access - and cell service, for that matter. :-)* So, hopefully by the middle of the week, I can post some of the videos that I have been holding on to for a while now. In the meantime, here are some random pictures from the past week...

Jake was really wanting to try on Daddy's softball jersey - until we put it on - and then he couldn't really move or walk around, so it wasn't that cool anymore...

This is Jake wearing the WAY CUTE pajamas that Aunt Becky gave him....and trying to look all innocent as he is doing something he knows he is not supposed to be doing!

You never know....Jake may be dialing YOUR number to talk to you?!

Driving in Daddy's truck - and helping him steer (don't worry....we were just in the driveway)! Don't send the cops after us!
Oh, and one final side note.....Jake is cutting 2 upper molars....pretty exciting!!

March Madness

March Madness is upon us in this household (although I was bummed about Louisville losing yesterday...guess I will now pull for Villanova). Jake has been favoring his toy basketball over the past few days....and even when he was in the kitchen with me yesterday afternoon, he heard some cheers on the TV - and he was looking around the corner to see who had scored! Too funny!

Mr. Bear #2

I'll just cut to the chase - we lost Mr. Bear in Charleston on Friday!! In all of the pictures you see from Charleston, I believe Jake is holding Mr. Bear.....who we have come to love and accept as a part of our family :-) As we were getting ready to leave, I couldn't find him ANYWHERE. We looked and looked - and nothing. I was seriously almost in tears, b/c Jake loves this blanket bear.....and plus - on the sentimental side.....it was one of those "items" I probably would have saved after Jake was ready to get rid of him for good. I mean, Mr. Bear has also been all over the country with us in the past year, so - it was pretty sad driving home WITHOUT Mr. Bear. Jake kept looking for him in his car seat and anytime I would hand him another toy, he would just throw it down...he definitely wanted Mr. Bear! So, I called Chris and asked him to pull down the "back up Mr. Bear" out of the closest (yes, I bought one that is the same - just not near as worn, so Jake never wants anything to do with it) - and I told Chris when we got home to just make a big deal about having it :-) So, we get home....Chris hands it to him...and Jake makes a face and throws it down. He did that about 3 times!! Chris said Jake is like a new mother with identical twins....no one can tell the twins apart - EXCEPT the Mother....and apparently, Jake can tell the Mr. Bears apart, too!! FORTUNATELY, Jake has taken to this Mr. Bear this weekend (probably because he hasn't had much of a choice) - and here is Jake clutching the new Mr. Bear in this picture. It really is sad that Mr. Bear #1 is floating around Charleston somewhere.....but I think Jake is going to come to love Mr. Bear #2 just as much....just with a little time....and as he starts to wear this one out :-)

Charleston, SC

Jake and I drove to Charleston on Friday to meet up with my Aunt Mary Anne and Uncle Hal and my cousins Rebecca and Mary Ellen (and Uncle Hal's mother and 2 of Mary Ellen's friends), who were in town. We got to spend a few hours with them, walking around,....and catching up. It was really great to see them all! They have a lot of exciting events coming up - Mary Ellen is graduating high school, Rebecca is graduating college - and then getting married a week later, so - May is going to be a busy and exciting month in the Poe household! Charleston is such a great place - and I'm looking forward to spending lots of time there over the next 3 years! Jake had a great time, too ..... and was crying when we had to say goodbye (he is a sucker for all of the attention)!! :-)

Fun with Daddy

Jakes looks forward everyday to Daddy getting home from work. He takes off in a fast crawl when he hears the garage door open....and the FUN begins :-)

Take me out to the Ball Game

This afternoon, Jake and I went to see Daddy play his softball game on base. You can see by the pictures that Jake wanted to be on the field WAY more than sitting on the blanket. He enjoyed watching while standing up by the fence - and got especially excited when Daddy appeared in the dug out (even started crying when he walked away)! I tried to explain to him there is no crying in baseball ;-)

Cannot Even Come up with the Appropriate Heading

What can I say? The boy loves to eat. He looks so miserable in these pictures...and yet, so happy!!

The Office

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MDKBizCsoAo&feature=related

For all of you that love the TV show The Office and love Jim and Pam - you will want to check this out. My sister-in-law Becky sent this to me back in January (thanks so much Becky - this is great) - and I was JUST able to view it, b/c of our horrible internet here, and I had to post it on the blog for your viewing pleasure.

Innocence

Aunt Katy sent me this picture of Jake that she had taken when she was here for Jake's birthday weekend, and I had to share it with everyone. I love the innocence of a child!

Happy St. Patty's Day....and a Mother's Initiation

Yesterday was St. Patty's Day, as all of you know. So, yesterday morning I decided that we were going to celebrate the Irish in us during dinner.....and I decided to make Irish food (just corned beef - nothing fancy) and then I decided to make some lime/green jello - picture included (not Irish, but fun) :-) It was just supposed to be a little something to "spice" up our evening meal. It was all very delicious, too (if I do say so myself). Jake especially loved his jell0 - and I couldn't find the camera in time to take pictures before he had scarfed it down. Jake went to bed at normal time...Chris and I went to bed a couple hours later - and another day was done. Around 3am, I thought I heard Jake coughing a little bit (surprising I heard it, b/c we all know I'm a sound sleeper....although it has changed a little bit since I had Jake - which many said would happen). I went to just roll over - no big deal, but something inside me told me I should just check on him. So I tiptoe into his room and from a distance could see him sleeping....I got up close - and yes, he was sleeping - in a huge pile of throw up!!! YUCK! That's where the mother's initiation came in, b/c Jake has only had 1 stomach virus and it was before he was eating table foods, so it wasn't the end of the world. Jake never spit up as a baby, either, so I've been very fortunate. Now, let me say that I would deal with throw up over blood anyday, so it's all good - except that it was 3am and it was everywhere and no one wants to be doing that in the middle of the night. As I was climbling into bed 2 HOURS LATER (yep, that's how long it took to clean up and get Jake back to sleep), I was thinking about how this was probably just the first of many nights in the next 17-18 years that I would be up in the middle of the night. I also thought about how Jake is worth it :-) Oh, and the lime green jello on St. Patty's day....well, that WON'T be a family tradition in our house! (Oh yes...and Jake - he is doing much better this morning and seems to be himself, so - maybe it was just a fluke)?!

Crazy Hair

I know you've all seen his crazy hair before, but....it is truly a talking point when we are out in public :-)

Savannah, GA

While my parents were here....we also went to Savannah - and walked on River Street, which is a street by the river (go figure) with lots of shops....and the highlight was the pralines - lots of free samples!!! Jake even got to eat some gelato, so he knew it was a special occasion!

Having lots of FUN!

Chris bought this apple that was covered in caramel, chocolate, pecans, and white chocolate drizzle (way too rich)! He waited until we got home to eat it....and I actually think some of it is still in the fridge. :-)

We had a GREAT time with Mimi and Papa Dee! Thanks so much for coming to see us. We can't wait until the next time!!

The Island

Well, these are the only 2 bridges that get you on and off our Island (Lady's Island). So, when the hurricanes come....I'm headed WEST :-)

Jake on the swings...

Having some fun on the swing...

Where's Jake?

THERE HE IS...THAT SILLY BOY!!!
Straws are for drinking out of (but hey, if it entertains you while we're waiting for our food - you can play with it) :-)

Downtown Beaufort

Mimi and Papa Dee came to visit last Thursday-Tuesday. It was the first time they had seen our house....and I think they had been going through Jake withdrawal! The weather was especially nice (in the 80s...a little windy, though) - so, we were able to get out on the town a little bit. We went to downtown Beaufort one day and Savannah another. Aunt Katy and Whitney had just been to both of those places when they came to visit, so she had filled us in on all of the good stuff to see. These are a few shots of our afternoon in Beaufort....although there was lots to see, so it was hard to get Jake to look at the camera. :-)

Looking Back...

Here are some pictures from Aunt Katy's spring break trip last year out to CA to see us. Jake had just been born. What a difference a year makes......

Getting Close...

Jake has been doing A LOT of standing on his own lately....but he's not taking steps by himself yet. He is just taking his time (which as my Mom reminds me, he has done since the beginning....starting with taking his time during the long labor before gracing us with his presence) :-) I'm thinking he spent so much of his first year in his car seat that the concept of walking is unfathomable :-) BUT - it will be soon, I'm sure...and I have my video camera ready!

Aunt Katy comes to visit!!

Aunt Katy came to visit us last week for her spring break. It was lots of fun having her here!! Jake was especially excited that she was here to play with him!! Thanks for coming to see us!! It's always FUN having you here! Just think, the next time we see you....you will be graduating! WOW!!
