This year for the 4th, we were in Downingtown, PA celebrating. Every 4th, Mrs. Ashinhurst's side of the family all gets together and heads to Downington for the race in the morning (along with all the other festivities) - and then go to Gregg and Terry's house (her brother and his wife) for swimming and a cookout in the afternoon/evening. They have done this for as long as I have known Chris .... and it was great to be able to go up there this year (just wish Chris could've been with us).
Jake participated in the race for his age group this year. This is the 3rd generation racing in the Downington Race on the 4th of July. Pretty neat, I think. Chris would've loved to have been there to see Jake in action .... but I got some video, so that's the next best thing. Yay for technology.
Here is Gram pinning his race number on his shirt :-)
He was pretty excited about it, if you can't tell!
"Warming up" by playing with Pap-Pap!
Getting a congratulations hug from Cole after the race. :-)
Showing off his medal. Jake came in 2nd place in his age group. If we can just work on his turns, he'll be getting 1st place in no time :-)
And here's the video ... Jake takes a huge lead at the beginning, gets "tied up" at the turn .... and then picks up 2nd place as he crosses the finish line. What FUN!!
(More July 4th pictures to follow soon) ....
