After leaving VA, we headed down to New River, NC (near Camp Lejeune) and visited our good friends the Denvers. While Chris was at TBS back in 2004/2005, we hung out with Brooke and Chris all the time - they are such good friends .... and Brooke came out to CA and visited me right after Chris deployed the first time. I haven't seen her since, so we wanted to make sure and see them before heading back out west at the end of the year. Unfortunately, her Chris was gone - he actually leaves next week for his second deployment, so we missed him, but it was SO SO SO wonderful to spend time with Brooke and FINALLY meet Colton, who is 3 months older than Cole. Colton is so cute - and the 3 boys had a blast together and got along so well! I'm thankful for the Marine Corps and the different people that it has brought into my life - and the fact that you can stay close even when you don't live close! Before leaving the area, we drove into Jacksonville to see the house where Chris was born (well, not born born, but the first house he lived in after he was born). That was fun ... and a little walk down "memory lane" for him.
After Jacksonville, we headed back to Beaufort to pick up Chris's truck that we had left at the Paxton's house. It was nice we didn't have to drive 2 cars up to VA ... and even BETTER that it gave us an excuse to hang out with Ashleigh (and Thayer) one last night. Speaking of being thankful for people that the Marine Corps has brought into my life....!!!!! My boys sure are crazy about her, too!!
