As much as I love vacations - and especially ones that include seeing family, there really is no place like home - and routine :-) It's nice to have a break from routine and the "norm", but it's sometimes a challenge adjusting back. For example, Jake has been waking up CONSISTENTLY now at 5am. I don't think he was doing that on vacation (was he?!), but nothing seems to make him want to go back to sleep - getting back in his own bed, getting in bed with us, etc. The problem with the 5am wake up (well, there are several of them), but the main one is that by 11am, he is ready for a nap. Here he is trying so hard to stay awake....
He had to cave and fall asleep.....I did tell him before he fell asleep, though, that he was still going to take another nap after lunch regardless :-) So, he ended up sleeping about 20 minutes on the couch - and then did get in his bed at 1pm, but only for about an hour and never fell asleep. Since that first day of falling asleep at 11am, I now have made sure he stays awake - and we've just moved up his "schedule" a little bit with an earlier lunch and nap, BUT..... I really really really wish he would stop waking up at 5am - for my sanity :-)
Here are a couple of pictures of Jake hugging Cole ....
So sweet....
I'm not sure if Cole is starting to teethe (can't feel any teeth yet) 0R if he just finds comfort in biting on things.... BUT he is all about holding on to things and biting on them, so break out the teethers in our house!
This is Jake watching Toy Story 2 this weekend (yes, in his Toy Story pjs). It was his first time watching it, and he actually pretty much watched the whole thing. At the end of the movie, he told Cole "I love you .... for infinity and beyond". He kind of mumbles over the infinity word, but he has got the BEYOND and the pointing down pat :-)
Cole out growing his play mat :-( I'll have to put it away soon, b/c he doesn't even stay ON it these days.... he is constantly rolling off of it .... far, far off of it!
AND here he is trying desperately to crawl, so that he can catch up with Jake....
taking a breather before he gets back to it .....
